[March 03, 2009]  Kick-a-Thon fundraiser for Lincoln-Logan Food Pantry

Graue Chevrolet and the Personal Development Institute invite the public to help stock our local food pantry this Saturday, March 7.

PDI's martial arts students will each do as many kicks as they can to help raise funds for the Lincoln-Logan Food Pantry. The students are accepting donations as a flat fee or per kick. To make a cash donation, see a PDI student or stop by during the Kick-a-Thon. In addition to the fundraiser, nonperishable food items will be accepted. Graue Chevrolet is providing a pickup truck during the Kick-a-Thon, with a goal of filling the back with food items. The public is invited to attend the Kick-a-Thon and help PDI and Graue in providing much-needed assistance to the food pantry. For more information, contact Jerry Purlee Jr. at 217-735-9284.

The event will be at 390 Limit St. from 10 am-noon.

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, thirty-six 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band members from Lincoln Junior High School participated in the Illinois Grade School Music Association annual Solo and Ensemble Contest. The contest was hosted by Parkside Junior High School in Normal.

Humane Society News

A Forever home:  Sylvia, our 10 year old blind foster cat, has found a loving forever home. Sylvia was adopted on February 23, 2009 by a couple who live in Lincoln. The caring couple also has a 9 year old cat with physical problems. What a perfect match!!!

Home again:  Rocky, a black and white basset hound from Elkhart, was ejected from a car accident near New Holland and ran away. An alert was put out on February 24, 2009. Rocky was found on February 25, 2009 by a farmer in a barn near San Jose. He took Rocky to a nearby animal clinic. Because Rocky was microchipped he was quickly reunited with a grateful owner. Thanks to all who circulated the alert.

Mount Pulaski American Legion Hall will be celebrating the 90th birthday of the Ryman-Fuiten Post #447 on March 4, at 7:00 pm. All legion, auxiliary and SAL's are invited to attend.

Chicken Noodle Luncheon will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 110 Broadway, Lincoln. Handicap Accessible. Donation - $6.00, Children 8 & under - $2.00. Carry outs available by calling 732-7568.
