Joy Stone

[March 07, 2009]  Joy C. Stone, 77, of Lincoln, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 2:45 a.m. at her home.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Roger James officiating.

Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.

Mrs. Stone was a licensed water plant operator and worked at the Illinois Department of Revenue.

She was born June 3, 1931, at Kenney to Jessie Beeler Tripplett and Marvin Burton. She married Edwin Stone on June 19, 1949, at Middletown. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1979.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan (and Glenn) Barker of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Ivy Barker of Petersburg, Adam (and Tara) Barker of Petersburg, and Shawn Stone, Michelle Stone and Ashley (and Shaun) Moore, all of Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan (and JoAnn) Tripplett of Lincoln and John (and Alberta) Tripplett of Middletown; and two sisters, Rose (and Ben) Szabrowicz of Jasper, Ark., and Marilyn (and Jim) Bell of Mason City.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Dale Stone; one sister, Evelyn Triplett; and two brothers, George and Jim Tripplett.

She was a member of Sweetwater Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary 0672 and a member of the Middletown Bunco Club for over 50 years.
