Emil 'Bud' Moos Jr.

Emil J. "Bud" Moos Jr., 86, of Lincoln,
died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 2:32 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Peasley Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Preceding the visitation, there will be a rosary service at
4:45.
A Mass of Christian burial service will be at noon
Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the
Rev. Jeffrey Laible officiating. |
Burial will be in
Holy Cross Cemetery, where military rites will be
conducted by American Legion Post 263.
Mr. Moos was a mail carrier in Lincoln for 33 1/2
years before retiring in 1982. He was also employed
at Kerrigan Funeral Home and Peasley Funeral Home
from 1985 until 2005.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was born July 14, 1922, in Lincoln, the son of
Emil Sr. and Marie Ananias Moos.
He is survived by one son, James Moos of
Huntington Beach, Calif.; two brothers, William Moos
of Lincoln and Thomas Moos of Springfield; one
sister, Mary Ann Schonauer of Lincoln; four
grandchildren, Damian, John, Jordan and Jacob; five
great-grandchildren, Ethan, Averi, Charlotte,
Delilah and Devin; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Nellie Mae Koester and Norma Shanle,
preceded him in death.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church,
American Legion Post 263, Lincoln Elks Lodge 914,
Knights of Columbus Council 1250, a 3rd degree past
Grand Knight and 4th Degree past Faithful Navigator,
and secretary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He had also donated 149 pints of blood.
Bud coached Pony League ball from 1955 to 1970.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served aboard
the battleship USS New York in the Atlantic and the
destroyer USS Sigourney in the South Pacific.
He loved to fish and hunt.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church,
Carroll Catholic School or Knights of Columbus.
