Nicholas 'Nick' Tibbs

[November 03, 2009]  NEW HOLLAND -- Nicholas John "Nick" Tibbs, 60, of New Holland, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at 7:48 p.m. at his home.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Holland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Becky Barrow officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Mr. Tibbs retired from Lehn & Fink after 29 years as a machinist.

He was born Dec. 7, 1948, in Lincoln to Henry F. "Hank" and Lenora A. "Sis" Blaum Tibbs. He married Carol Ann Braun on March 30, 1968, in Chicago.

He is survived by his wife, of New Holland; his mother, of Lincoln; two sons, Philip (and Erika) Tibbs of Mount Zion and Patrick (and Trisha) Tibbs of Lincoln; one daughter, Pamela Tibbs of New Holland; two sisters, Cheryl (and Ron) Armintrout of Riverton and Colleen (and Brian) Kessinger of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Lexi, Alaina, Alyssa and Devin Tibbs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a member of New Holland United Methodist Church, a lieutenant with the New Holland Fire Department, a member of the Illinois State Berkshire Association and of Gold Wings.

Memorials may be made to the Logan County 4-H Foundation.
