Elaine Ansley

[October 13, 2009]  Elaine Johanna Barr Ansley, 73, of Lincoln, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at 6:18 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, following the rosary at 4:30 p.m.

Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Jeff Laible officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Ms. Ansley was a registered nurse. She retired from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in 2001 and was also a nurse at Logan Correctional Center and Logan Mason Mental Health Center.

She was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Granite City to Orville and Lourine Gilmore Barr.

She is survived by four children: Alwyn (and Debbie) Ansley of Millbrook, Ala., and their children, Kyle, Dalton, Teddy and Sara Ansley; Beth (and Greg) Eimer of Lincoln and their son, Jack Eimer; Joseph (and Maria) Ansley of Springfield and their children, Morgan and Zoe Ansley; and Susan (and Todd) Hindt of Normal and their children, Guy Lang and Tad Hindt. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Daniel (and Peggy) Barr of Colgate, Wis., and John (and Debbi) Barr of Normal; her twin, Lorraine (and William) Fenougty of Belleville; and Rita (and Bobby) Horton of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Alaina Eimer.

Funeral Director

She was a member of Holy Family Church. She worked at the church's food pantry and read to the blind for a radio station in Springfield. She was past president of Zonta Club.

Memorials may be made to St. Louis Ronald McDonald House; Springfield Children's Miracle Network or Holy Family Food Pantry.
