Maralee Hobbs

[October 29, 2009]  EMDEN -- Maralee Hobbs, 93, of Emden, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Fred Leades officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Mrs. Hobbs was employed by the Logan County treasurer's office, the Illinois Department of Agriculture and retired from Lincoln Developmental Center.

She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Isabel Township, Fulton County, to Jesse and Blanche Pascal Foutch. She married Irvin Russell Hobbs on March 3, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1961.

She is survived by her son, Irvin Carl (and Marian) Hobbs of Emden; five grandchildren, Mary Beth (and Donald) Jackson of Lincoln, Mindy Kay (and husband Brad) Halverson of Tremont, Marian (and Dennis) Eimer of Lincoln, Douglas (and Leann) Hobbs of Emden and Michelle Hobbs of Lincoln; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Zaborac of Osage Beach, Mo.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mae Howe, and two brothers, Burley Foutch and infant brother Lawrence Foutch.

She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Emden.

Funeral Directors

She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She loved to spend time in nature, whether it was tending to her beautiful garden or feeding and watching various birds and squirrels. She had several small dogs throughout her life that were loved very much. Maralee was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Lincoln Christian Village.
