Rickey 'Gumbo' Garrett

[October 30, 2009]  Rickey P. "Gumbo" Garrett, 57, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 9:49 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mr. Garrett was owner and operator of the Alley-Bi Saloon in Lincoln.

He was born Jan. 1, 1952, in Decatur to Paul J. and Kathleen Seely Garrett.

He is survived by his mother, of Lincoln; his companion, Cindy McCullough Singleton and her children and grandchildren: Staci (and George) Lacefield and their children, Morgan and Garrett, and Scott (and Jenny) Singleton and their daughter, Ella; one brother, Roger (and Jan) Garrett of Bloomington; two sisters, Gloria (and Gerald) Goodman of Mount Pulaski and Peggy Garrett of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, David "Crub" Garrett.

Memorials may be made to the DaVita Kidney Dialysis Center in Lincoln.
