Harry Olson

[September 19, 2009]  McLEAN -- Harry Olson, 90, formerly of McLean, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at 11:45 p.m. at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McLean United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Andy Maxwell and the Rev. Don Jones officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church in McLean.

Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean.

Mr. Olson farmed all of his life, the last 60 years in the McLean area, and retired in 1985.

He was born Dec. 7, 1918, at Weldon to Harry A. and Mary Johnson Olson. He married Betty Johnston of Waynesville on Nov. 16, 1941.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Susan (and Steve) Kopetz of Seattle, Wash., Harry (and Marsha) Olson of Atlanta, John (and Linda) Olson of Bloomington and Mike (and Bonnie) Olson of Shirley; seven grandchildren, Sonya Kopetz (and Jason Bolich), Kim (and Kurt) Buttleman, Ben (and Kelly) Olson, Meredith Olson, Rush (and Jessie) Olson, Chris Olson and Emily (and Jimmy) Morris; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (and Joe) Johnson of Ocala, Fla., and Louise (and Wendell) Learned of Bloomington; and one brother, Richard (and Rue) Olson of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William "Jake" Olson.

Funeral Director

He loved life and enjoyed his relationships with neighbors, friends and family. He will be missed.

Memorials may be made to the McLean United Methodist Church.
