Christina Leesman

[April 15, 2010]  HARTSBURG -- Christina M. Leesman, 93, of Hartsburg, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with Pastor David Russell officiating.

Burial will follow in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

She was born July 16, 1916, in Hartsburg. Her parents were Edward J. and Lena Hellman Luken. She married Raymond Leesman on June 28, 1938, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Dean (and Marilyn) Leesman of Hartsburg and Ronald Ray (and Ann) Leesman of Mount Pulaski; two daughters, Sandra Jane Gleason of Lincoln and Mary C. (and Charles) Duffey of Cedar Hill, Mo.; two sisters, Agnes Klokkenga of Novinger, Mo., and Erna J. Post of Normal; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg.

She had worked at Tommy Birch's egg plant in Lincoln. 

Funeral Directors

She loved to crochet and made various things for her family and friends. During her time at St. Clara's Manor, she was an avid bingo player, winning countless stuffed animals and jewelry prizes. She was also an avid Cubs fan.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
