[August 11, 2010]  LINCOLN -- William Morris, 81, a lifelong resident of Lincoln and Logan County, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at 10 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at New Union Cemetery, with Ron Otto officiating.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mr. Morris worked at the former Lehn & Fink Products Corp. of Lincoln for 45 years, first in shipping, then receiving and the tank farm.

He was born in Lincoln on July 13, 1929.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Billington Morris; one son, Paul (and Kari) Morris of Sobieski, Wis.; one daughter, Charla Bess of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Morris in the U.S. Air Force, Lorene Morris Johnston of Sobieski, and Clarissa and Daryl Bess of Lincoln; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Frances Stokes Morris; two sisters, Alice (Mrs. Fred) Allen and Frances Hopp Clinard; and a brother, Boyd.

He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and formerly worked with the youth and served as a deacon. He particularly enjoyed being part of a team who took weekly Communion and words of encouragement to those who were unable to participate at church due to health issues.

He was a member of Local 316 of the Chemical Workers Union.

Funeral Director

The family owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. Dennis Carroll and the staff of the emergency room and intensive care unit at ALMH for their professional and personal care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Lincoln Christian Church or Lincoln Christian University.
