[December 23, 2010]  The Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency reminds the public of the agency's Web page launched earlier this year. The page can be accessed through the Logan County Government website at www.co.logan.il.us by selecting "Joint Solid Waste Agency."

The agency's Web page features recycling guidelines and collection site locations throughout the county. Visitors to the site can access agency contact information, as well as board membership and meeting information. Links to other recycling and environmental websites and hints for "going green" are also available.

Individuals can access the resource list by selecting "Recycling Information" under the "Documents" heading. The list, titled "How Do I Dispose of …?" provides eco-friendly information on the collection and disposal of a variety of household items. The listing is alphabetical and covers items from aluminum cans to worn flags. The listing provides information on how to properly recycle items. If a recycling alternative is not available, information on an appropriate disposal method is provided.

When the agency is aware of a group or organization collecting certain recyclable items, the information is added to the Web page. Groups and organizations collecting materials are encouraged to notify the agency for inclusion in the listing. The listing will be updated on a quarterly basis. Information may be sent to the LCJSWA at P.O. Box 454 in Lincoln or called in at 732-9636.

Additionally, the Web page includes an announcement section for information on annual collections such as glass recycling, as well as special collection events such as electronics or paper shredding. Information on Lincoln's curbside recycling program through Area Disposal can also be found on the website.

Logan County residents are encouraged to visit the Web page to learn more about the recycling opportunities offered through the Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency. As always, the agency is interested in citizens' comments and suggestions to assist in maintaining a quality recycling program.
