Donald E. Cotton, 85, of Lincoln, died
Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at 12:43 a.m. at Lincoln Christian Village.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran
Church in Lincoln, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. |
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, with
military rites conducted by an honor guard from
Atlanta American Legion Post 341 and Mount Pulaski
American Legion Post 447. Mr. Cotton was a retired grocer. He
had been the manager at the Mount Pulaski Kroger and
owned Cotton's Corner Grocery in Atlanta.
During World War II he served in the Marine Corps
in the South Pacific.
He was born Dec. 15, 1924, at Funks Grove to Doc
and Eula M. Jones Cotton. He married Mildred
Fullriede on Dec. 2, 1951, in Mount Pulaski.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three
daughters, Kathy (and Jim) Bicknell of Atlanta,
Julie (and Michael) Mittelsteadt of Lincoln and
Donise (and Dave) Schrader of Tremont; two brothers,
Raymond (and Jean) Cotton of Rockaway Beach, Mo.,
and Loren Cotton of Bloomington; five grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Three sisters preceded him in death. |
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln
and American Legion Post 341 in Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to his church.
