Clifford 'Sonny' Sullivan

[January 04, 2010]  Clifford "Sonny" Sullivan, 72, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center of Lincoln in Springfield with his wife, Linda, by his side.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. A Masonic service will begin at 5 p.m.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home, with Ron Otto officiating.

Burial will follow in Lawndale Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.

Mr. Sullivan was employed at the Lincoln Fire Department, Lincoln Developmental Center power plant, at Logan Correctional Center as chief engineer, at Lincoln Correctional Center as chief engineer and retired from Robinson Correctional Center as chief engineer in the 1990s. 

He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Lincoln, to Clifford F. and Hilma Gibson Sullivan. He married Linda Werth on Jan. 12, 1958, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Kyle (and wife Yvanda) of Lincoln and Kraig (and Denise) of Middletown; one daughter, Kim (and Rob) Hall of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Heather, Kraig Jr., Kristin, Megan and Mackenzie; five great-grandchildren, Gage, Brody, Caden, Jordyn and Abby; and one sister, Linda Tumilty of Bryan, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marna and Catherine.

Funeral Directors

Sonny was a member of Lincoln Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was also a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge 210, Springfield Consistory, Lincoln York Rite, Ansar Shrine in Springfield, Logan County Shrine Club and Robinson Elks Club 1188.

He was a former Logan County Board member, a former member of the Logan County Paramedic Association board and a member of the Civil War statue board.

Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln Christian Church or the Temple Foundation of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge.
