LINCOLN -- James R. Rickord, 88, of
Lincoln, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at home, surrounded by his
family.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home, with Larry Crawford
officiating. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery with military
rites. Mr. Rickord worked at Caterpillar and
retired from Lehn & Fink.
He was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Broadwell to Samuel
James and Clara Lavona Rickord. He marrried Wanda L.
Higgins on Jan. 7, 1941, in New London, Mo. She
preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 1992.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Reita (and
Jerry) Rifner of Minier, Meredith Leever of Lincoln
and Bonnie (and Ron) Schulmeister of Atlanta;
six grandchildren, Brad Rifner of Lincoln, Brigette
(and Tim) Carruth of Dallas, Ga., Brandi (and Darin)
Clements of Williamsburg, Mo., Brian (and Barb)
Hassebrock of Springfield, Travis Hassebrock of
Lincoln and Eric Leever of Beason; and seven
great-grandchildren, James Buck Rifner, Jakob
Hassebrock, Taylor Hassebrock, Cameron Hassebrock,
Chase Carruth, Eryn Leever and Erika Leever.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and
one grandson, Barry Rifner. |
He was a member of the Lincoln Veterans of Foreign
Wars post and the Sportsman's Club of Beason. He was
an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler, enjoyed going
to swap meets for guns and coonhounds, and was a
die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Home
Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
