Spellers, students, faculty
and family came to the Lincoln Junior High School gymnasium Friday
for the annual District 27 Spelling Bee. Representatives from fourth
through eighth grade from Central, Northwest, Washington-Monroe and LJHS participated.
Cameron Halpin, a seventh-grader at LJHS, took first place, with Kylee Foster, a
fifth-grader at Northwest
School, the runner-up. Foster lost when she misspelled zucchini,
and Halpin was able to spell condor and sushi to win.
