LINCOLN -- Charles F. Roos, 89, of
Lincoln, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at 9:15 p.m. at his home.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Faith Lutheran
Church, with the Rev. Mark Peters officiating. Visitation will be
one hour prior to the service. |
Mr. Roos donated his body to the Anatomical Gift
Association of Illinois. Arrangements are by
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mr. Roos farmed at Beason.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.
He was born Jan. 23, 1921, at Beason. His parents
were Carl Otto and Alvina Danner Roos. He married
Anna Catherine Hassebrock on July 19, 1945, in
Chestnut. She preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 1994.
He married Louise Zimmerman on April 23, 1995, in
Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his
children, Janet (and Dean) Steinle of Kimberling
City, Mo., Daryl (and Jae) Roos of Homewood, Joyce
(and Steve) Nardulli of Springfield, David (and
Beth) Roos of Beason and Joan (and Jeff) Tracy of
McLean; a stepdaughter, Cheryl (and Steve) Zimmerman
of Mason City; a stepson, Randall (and Christina)
Dirks of Lincoln; a sister, Mary Ruwe of Mount
Pulaski; 12 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren;
nine step-great-great-grandchildren; and 36 nieces
and nephews. |
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucile
Cooper.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of
Lincoln, where he faithfully held many church
offices.
He was a former member of the Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital board.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or
Zion Lutheran School of Lincoln.
