[November 08, 2010]  MOUNT PULASKI -- George Bradley Heft, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Latham, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at 10:20 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Veail Chapel, Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, with Greg Taylor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is handling arrangements.

Mr. Heft was a retired farmer and fertilizer applicator for Herrin Fertilizer

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was born Feb. 9, 1923. His parents were Howard and Katherine White Heft.

He is survived by two sons, Paul (and Sonia) Heft of Kenney and Erick (and Trisha) Heft of Decatur; one daughter, Pamela Sue (and Larry) Leedom of Sarasota, Fla.; two granddaughters, Julie (and Craig) Hinds of Kenney and Heidi Heft of Clinton; one grandson, Nathaniel (and Angela) Oltmann of Arkansas; and five great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Zac Hinds, Kaitlyn Jason, and Henry and Aida Oltmann.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Bradley J. Heft; two brothers; and one sister.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447.
