MOUNT PULASKI -- Barbara Grace Van
Hook, 94, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at 4 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living
Center.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. |
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St.
John's Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with the
Rev. David Hofer officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery
Mrs. Van Hook had been a second-grade teacher at
Mount Pulaski Grade School.
She was born June 14, 1916, in Webster City,
Iowa. Her parents were Wilbur and Grace Kautz
Barnes. She married Harry Van Hook in June 6, 1941,
Tullahomo, Tenn. He preceded her in death on July
18, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann (and
Richard) Milligan of Riverside, Calif., and Mary Ann
Van Hook of Chicago; one son, Robert (and Linda) Van
Hook of Forsyth; five grandchildren, Lisa Van Hook,
Michael Van Hook, Christopher Milligan, Tarik Van
Hook Denden and Sharif Van Hook Denden; and five
great-grandchildren, Nicole Cooper, Christian
Milligan, Malia Milligan, Zachary Van Hook and
Caroline Van Hook.
She was also preceded in death by one sister,
Mary June Way.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in
Mount Pulaski and Mount Pulaski American Legion
Auxiliary Post 447. |
She was in the 1934 graduating class of Mount
Pulaski High School and earned a teaching degree
from Illinois State University.
A special thanks to all of her caretakers who
made her life so much happier in the last few years.
A special thank you to Dr. Kasa of Lincoln and all
of the wonderful people who made the last part of
her life comfortable at Vonderlieth Living Center.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran
Church, Vonderlieth Living Center or Mount Pulaski
EMS.
