Rita Marie Jackson, 90, of Penfield, formerly of Lincoln, died
Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, in Penfield. |
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry
& Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Lincoln, with Father Laible
officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery,
River Grove.
Mrs. Jackson was employed at Lincoln
Developmental Center in Lincoln for many years. She
retired in 1984.
Rita was born May 19, 1920, in Chicago. Her
parents were John F. Braun and Anna S. Hennig Braun.
She married Alvin Jackson on April 12, 1941, in
Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2002.
She is survived by two daughters, Lucy Sparks of
Penfield and Mary Sutton (and husband Robert Duncan)
of Mahomet; three sons, Donald Jackson of Chicago,
John Jackson of Tennessee and Tim Jackson (and wife
Cyndi) of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren; 28
great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Angeline
Hunt of California.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald
Jackson; one daughter, Christine Sandavol; and one
granddaughter, Theresa Jackson. |
She took great pride in being a foster grandparent
for 17 years and working in the West Lincoln-Broadwell
School library.
Memorial donations may be made to the family and
will be accepted at the funeral home.
