The only precipitation associated with the system was forecast to develop in the Ohio Valley, middle Mississippi Valley and southern New England.

Cold air was forecast to greatly dampen high temperatures in these areas, and frost advisories were posted in the Dakotas and Minnesota in anticipation of cold morning temperatures.

The only other rainfall forecast in the country was expected scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Southwest.

Low humidity and gusty wind was expected to create dangerous fire weather in the Southeast.

Temperatures in the Northeast were forecast to rise into the 50s and 60s. The Southeast was expected to have temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The southern Plains were forecast to reach the 80s and 90s, and even some 100s, while the Northwest was forecast to see temperatures in the 70s, 80s and some 90s. The Southwest was to rise into the 80s, 90s and 100s.

The low temperature Friday in the continental U.S. was 25 degrees in Stanley, Idaho. The high was 107 degrees in Bullhead City, Ariz.
