Grains futures mostly rise, livestock prices drop

[October 08, 2010]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Grain futures mostly rose Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery added 1 cent to $6.5925 a bushel; December corn jumped 9.75 cents to $4.9825 a bushel; December oats slid 2 cents to $3.495 a bushel; and soybeans for November delivery gained 3 cents to $10.65 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures mostly fell on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

December live cattle inched up 0.03 cent to 97.10 cents a pound; November feeder cattle shed 0.28 cent to $1.0897 a pound; December lean hogs slid 0.90 cent to 71.30 cents a pound; while February pork bellies dropped 1.5 cents to $1.03 a pound.
