Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

Raise Social Security

Send a link to a friend

Dear Editor:

I think the idea of people on Social Security not getting an increase is unacceptable.

I live on Social Security and I have other income too. What about the people who don't have anything else? The cost of medicine, groceries and utilities is going up and it is impossible to make ends meet for millions of people.

The people in Springfield and Washington, D.C., give themselves raises. Why don't they try living on a fixed income like many do? I think they might be very surprised at how hard it is to manage.

I think people should think very hard when going to the polls on Nov. 2, 2010.

A concerned citizen,

Ann Vandeventer
