[October 15, 2010]  LINCOLN -- Norma J. Donath, 85, a lifelong Lincoln resident, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at 7 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be scheduled later.

Mrs. Donath was a homemaker and former telephone operator.

She was born Jan. 4, 1925. Her parents were Herbert E. and Helen A. Wheeler Herberger. She married Carl E. Donath on April 22, 1950, in Lincoln.

She is survived by her husband; their daughter, Judy Donath of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty (and Joe) Poletti and Mary (and Bill) Eimer.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. She and her husband met in 1948 when both were working for General Telephone and Electronics. Carl was a GTE lineman.

A devoted wife and mother, Norma was an old-fashioned person who used a wringer washer and hung her clothes on the line for as long as she was able. She loved her flowers, cats, natural remedies, preparing her husband's favorite meal of pot roast and homemade squash pie, and canning her own vegetables.
