LINCOLN -- Wendell D. Burton Sr., 82,
of Lincoln, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at 10:15 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the service. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery with military
rites conducted by Lincoln American Legion Post 263.
Mr. Burton had worked at Lincoln Developmental
Center in housekeeping.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was born March 16, 1928, in Sommerset, Ky. His
parents were Melvin and Cloey Burton. He married
Catherine Fitzwater on Sept 16, 1945, in Deland.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son,
Wendell D. (and Melinda) Burton Jr. of Murphysburo,
Tenn.; two daughters, Carolyn Sue (and Justin)
Dammerman of Lincoln and Tracy (and Terry) Brown of
Lincoln; one brother, Claude Burton of Champaign;
six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six
sisters and one son, Steven Todd. |
He was a member of American Legion Post 263, to
which memorials may be made.
