LINCOLN -- Jean E. Moody, 66, of rural
Lincoln, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 9:26 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield following a courageous battle with
cancer.
A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Moody will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. Father Thomas Taylor will
officiate. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the
service. |
At her request, her body was donated to medical
science for research. Arrangements are with
Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
She had worked at Autoelectric Service, and
Quality Glass and Glazing. She was also the office
manager for the family business.
Jean Ellen Moody was born May 15, 1944, in
Lincoln. Her parents were Kenneth and Bernadine
Voyles Montgomery. She married C. Richard Moody on
June 16, 1973, in Lincoln.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; three
children, Jim Moody of Lincoln, Laura (and John)
Walraven of Waxahachie, Texas, and Teresa (and Ben)
Goff of Bedford, Texas; one sister, Ann Oakes of
Middleburg, Fla.; one brother, Br. Bernard Ronald
Montgomery of Conception, Mo.; five grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church,
where she was a Eucharistic minister and also taught
CCD classes.
She was a volunteer for the Land of Lincoln Girl
Scout Council, serving as a troop leader, area
cookie chairman and trainer for new leaders.
Jean enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and
needlework. She also enjoyed visiting historical
sites and fall festivals with her husband on their
Harley-Davidson motorcycle. |
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
