ATLANTA -- Irene Lucille Jackson, 86,
of Atlanta, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at 2:56 a.m. at St. Clara's
Manor in Lincoln.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Her funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home,
with the Rev. Rob Roy officiating. |
Burial will be
in Kinder Cemetery, rural Hornsby.
Mrs. Jackson worked at the Atlanta Grade School
and at many area businesses, including Short's
Nursing Home and restaurants in Atlanta and Lincoln.
She retired from Area Disposal as a bookkeeper.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1924, in Worden. Her
parents were Edward and Rose Kayser. She married
Alfred Leo Jackson on July 1, 1943, in St. Louis. In
1953 the family moved to Atlanta, where Alfred was a
dispatcher for Southern Transportation. He preceded
her in death in 1964.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. (and
Barbara) Jackson of Katy, Texas, and Thomas G. (and
Julie) Jackson of Atlanta; daughters-in-law Rose
Jackson of Tyler, Texas, and Irene Jackson of
Morton; three grandchildren, Dawn (and Ben) Davis of
Decatur, Chris Jackson of Atlanta and Cindy (and
Mark) Leesman of Atlanta; four great-grandchildren,
Jackson and Alex Davis and Jessica and Dustin
Leesman; four stepgrandchildren, seven
step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert
(and La Van) Kayser of Pocahontas.
She was preceded in death by her two eldest sons,
William Jackson and Robert Jackson, and three
sisters.
After her retirement, Irene continued her love
for gardening, baking and caring for others. |
