[August 29, 2011]  WAYNESVILLE -- Barbara Jean Taylor, 82, of Waynesville, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cremation rites have been accorded

A graveside service for Mrs. Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Evergreen Cemetery in Waynesville, with Dave Taylor officiating.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

She retired from Cutler-Hammer (Eaton Corp.) in Lincoln after 33 years. Previously she had been employed at General Electric for three years. She later worked at the DeWitt County Nursing Home in Clinton.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Waynesville. Her parents were James L. and Grace F. Longworth Price.

She is survived by her two sons, Raymond "Gene" (and Kathy) Taylor of Waynesville and George (and Barb) Taylor of Clinton; a son-in-law, Terry Renfrow; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carla; one granddaughter, Amber; two brothers, Fred Price and Billy Price; and two sisters, Frances (and Jut) White and Polly (and Ralph) Bristow.

She was a member of the Waynesville American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years.

She graduated from the Waynesville High School in 1947.

Funeral Director

She enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling. She also enjoyed watching sports, court shows and "soaps" on television.

Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Christian Church.
