Traders are also closely watching whether possible sanctions imposed by Europe and the U.S. on Iran related to its nuclear energy program will pinch global crude supplies. In other Nymex trading, natural gas added 0.5 cent at $3.49 per 1,000 cubic feet. Heating oil gained 1.2 cents to $3.03 a gallon and gasoline futures dropped 2.4 cents to $2.64 a gallon.
