There will be a celebration of life at the Holiday
Inn at 226 17th St., Rock Island, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Sunday. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been
accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th
Ave., Moline, is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Mr. Smith was an instructor for auto collision
repair with Scott Community College.
He was born on June 14, 1953, in Casey to Russell
and Hazel M. Jaynes Smith. He married Jean Slater on
Dec. 21, 1973, in Rock Island.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Dallas Smith
of Moline; three brothers, Richard (and Nila) Smith
of Lincoln, Bill (and Rhonda) Smith of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Rex (and Betty) Smith of East Moline; one
sister, Darla "Suzie" (and Allan) Sweet of Nixa,
Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister, Sherry.
Steven was a past member of IHHA and USTA.
He loved golf and building things with his hands.
