Shirley Hunter

[December 19, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Shirley Ruth Hunter, 85, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 10:58 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Hunter was manager at Quick Way Foods for 20 years.

She was born May 11, 1926, in Boise, Idaho. Her parents were Otto and Olive Dotson Jensen. She married Ernest Samuel Hunter in Lincoln, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1992.

She is survived by three sons, Dan Hunter of Lincoln, Kevin (and Robin) Hunter of Lincoln and Tom Hunter of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Candice Hunter of Lincoln and Kimberly (and Kevin) Prescott of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; two sisters, Rosalie Peckham and Carol Castleton, both of Boise, Idaho; a brother-in-law, Tom Hunter of Lincoln; and four grandchildren.

Shirley was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
