LINCOLN --
Iris E. Lohrenz, 89 1/2, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011,
at 11:50 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln,
with the Rev. David Ramirez officiating. Visitation
will be one hour prior to the service. |
Burial will
be in Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Lohrenz was a sales clerk at Miller-Jones
Shoe Store, Leslie's Shoe Store and Sears Roebuck &
Co. She and her husband owned and operated the Speed
Wash laundromat in Mason City from 1958 to 1973.
She was born June 12, 1921, in Pierre, S.D. Her
parents were Ernest and Thelma Bergh Westlund. She
married Marion G. Lohrenz on May 30, 1942, in
Alabama. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (and Cliff)
Perkins of Lincoln; one brother, Dwayne Nelson of
Longmont, Colo.; grandchildren Leslie Ann Hoefle,
Teresa Campbell, Angie Sanders, Debra Jordan,
Michael Marion Lohrenz II, Amanda Steele and Justin
Lohrenz; great-granddaughters Lauren Hoefle, Alica
Sanders, Lindsey Sanders, Emily Sanders and Jaedyn
Steele; and great-grandsons Alex Sanders, Andrew
Mason, Domonic Jordan and Brandon Steele.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one
son, Michael; two brothers; and one sister. |
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln
and a member of the Missionary Society of the church
for 49 years. She was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout
den mother and room mother at Washington-Monroe and
Central schools. She was also a member of American
Legion Auxiliary Post 263.
Iris came to Illinois to live with her aunt
Louise Wyland after the death of her mother in 1936.
She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in
1940.

Zion Lutheran School or the donor's choice.
