Wilbert 'Bert' Hill

LINCOLN -- Wilbert LeRoy "Bert" Hill,
67, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 10:28 a.m. in the
emergency room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. He was hit by
an automobile while riding his bicycle.
A prayer service will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 11, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, followed by
visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life service will be at
7, with Pastor Dave Catron officiating.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12,
at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Glen Fontana
officiating.

Mr. Hill retired in January 2003 from employment
at Lincoln Correctional Center.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1943, in Pekin. His
parents were Wilbert Earl and Arletta Belle Coriell
Hill. He married Cheryl Arnold on April 17, 1967, in
Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son,
Wilbert Earl (and Crystal) Hill of Beason; one
daughter, Tracy Jo Hill of Springfield; three
grandchildren, Nikkita Zeidler, Alexis Hope Hill and
Hannah Jo Hill-Scherf; and one sister, Cheryl Hill
of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister, Joyce Williams.
Bert attended Four Square Church in Decatur and
was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln. He
was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans
-- both Decatur Macon County Chapter 17 and D.L.
Jones Chapter. He was volunteer of the year in 2010 for helping
teach Alcoholic Anonymous for the Department of
Corrections. He was on the tactical team at the
correctional center and was the tact unit officer of
the year in 1987. |
Bert was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed
working out, riding his bike, walking and especially
his time with his family.
