Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Father
Laible officiating. Visitation will be one hour
prior to the service. At a later date Mrs. Rich
will be laid to rest next to her husband, Alton, at
Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.
She was born on April 28, 1918, in Lincoln. Her
parents were Vincent and Eva Von Mock. She married
Alton Rich on April 1941 in Morristown, N.J. He
preceded her in death on July 26, 2002.
She is survived by three children, Betty Ann Horn
of Mount Pulaski, Ronald Rich of Peoria and Ginger
(and Joe) Moore of San Angelo, Texas; seven
grandchildren, Frank, Joe Jr., Christopher, Russell,
Ronnie Lee, Johan and Sara; and 10
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty
Jones and Anna Bloom, and two brothers, Stephen and
Joseph Von Mock.
Helen was a military wife who traveled widely,
including Massachusetts, North Carolina, California,
Germany, Texas and Florida, and finally settled in
Lincoln.
She enjoyed gardening, swimming at the Lincoln
College pool, playing bingo, and during the winters
traveling to Las Vegas to take in the shows and the
big city atmosphere.
Helen was a member of the Holy Family Catholic
Church, formerly St. Patrick's Church. She attended
St. Mary's Catholic School as a child. |
Her many childhood and Lincoln friendships extended
through the years, especially Anita Hopp and Mary
Sauer.
The family would like to express their gratitude
to all the wonderful Vonderlieth
staff, and especially Pam McCarty, Jo Banister,
Debbie Daringer and Pepper Henrichsmeyer. Memorial
Medical Center Hospice also contributed to Helen's
comfort in her last days.
Memorials may be made to the Carroll Catholic
School or the donor's choice.
