She was born Dec. 2, 1914, near Elkhart. Her
parents were Stephen and Mary Hegarty Tierney. She
married Verne F. Lanterman in 1948, and he preceded
her in death in 1998.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and

She was the last of her immediate family and was
preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and
Martin.
She was proud of her Irish heritage, her father
and mother having come to the U.S. from County
Clare, Ireland.
She was an avid bird-watcher and loved seeing and
talking with her former students.
