LINCOLN --
Jane Mier, 98, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 4:12
a.m. at The Christian Village.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. A White Shrine service will follow at 4
p.m.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with
Ryan Edgecombe officiating. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery. Mrs. Mier
retired after 40 years as teacher and administrator
in area public schools: Olympia School District,
principal and elementary consultant; Adams School,
Lincoln, principal, 1966; Central and
Washington-Monroe schools, Lincoln, teacher and
assistant principal; Beason, intermediate grade
teacher; French's Chapel, teacher; and North Bethel
School, teacher.
She was born on May 12, 1913, at Beason. Her
parents were William and Rebecca Evans Wilson. She
married John W.R. Mier on Jan. 26, 1935, in Mexico,
Mo. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1995.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family and was
preceded in death by one brother, Francis E. Wilson,
and four sisters, Bertha Colaw, Mabel Wilson, Ruth
Wyllie and Elsie Schramm.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church;
Illinois Retired Teachers' Association; White Shrine
of Jerusalem, in which she was a past worthy high
priestess; Abraham Shrine 100, with 50-plus years of
membership; a life member of Abeba Temple 42; a
member and past queen of Daughters of the Nile; and
a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Petersburg. |
She attended Beason Elementary and High School,
received a bachelor's degree in education from
Millikin University in 1958, and her master's degree
in education from Millikin in 1964.
Memorials may be given to the White Shrine,
Hospice of Central Illinois or the donor's choice.
