[June 17, 2011]  BANGKOK (AP) -- Thai police have found 1.13 million methamphetamine pills hidden in three cars they confiscated and held for more than a year.

Senior narcotics police officer Lt. Gen. Atithep Patjamanon said Thursday police found the drugs after being tipped they were hidden in special compartments in the back seats. The cars had been seized from an auto theft suspect in May last year.

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board said 14 million methamphetamine pills were seized from January to April this year. That's compared to 51.6 million for all of 2010 and 27.4 million in 2009.
