[June 25, 2011]  The Chester-East Lincoln school board met on June 21 and welcomed the district's new principal-superintendent, Jennifer Hamm. Ms. Hamm began her new position on June 6.

The board approved the 2011-2012 calendar, with two early releases per month. On the first Wednesday of each month, teachers will be in professional development and collaborative trainings. Most trainings and development will be technology-focused.

Superintendent Hamm recently met with superintendents from two adjoining districts: Robert Bagby of LCHS District 404 and Mary Ahillen of Lincoln Elementary District 27. Discussion included co-oping to purchase supplies and materials at a lower cost, and coordinating trainings and professional development sessions, to take advantage of each district's resources and experienced staff.

The board also approved the following:

  • Five-year contract with Skyward, a student and financial management system.

  • Contract with Tri-County Special Education District for a speech and language therapist three times per week.

  • Back-to-School Night for Aug. 22. The superintendent is working out details with the Community Club. Time and details will be announced at a later date.

Construction on re-piping for the boiler system continues and is ahead of schedule. It should be completed by the second week of July.

The board intends to hire a new third-grade teacher at the July 19 meeting. The new teacher will replace Mrs. Dumouchel, who retired.

Also, board members are reviewing the student handbook. At the July meeting they will make recommendations for changes.
