Wayne Schaffenacker

[June 27, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Wayne F. Schaffenacker, 85, of Mount Pulaski, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at 7:55 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Christopher Decker officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Mr. Schaffenacker was retired from farming in the Mount Pulaski and Lincoln area.

He was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Lincoln to Carl and Molly Krieg Schaffenacker. He married Ruth Aukamp on Feb. 19, 1953, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife, of Mount Pulaski; two children, Ronald (and Patricia) Schaffenacker of Lincoln and Diane R. (and Matthew) Douglas of Texas; one brother, Lowell (and Norma) Schaffenacker of Lincoln; one sister, Patricia Falker of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Wilham, Alicia Schaffenacker, Nicole Marten, Christopher Schaffenacker, Blake Douglas, Rachel Douglas and Brooke Douglas; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepdaughter, Gloria Kay Rutherford.

Funeral Director

He was a member of the Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church and Logan County Farm Bureau.

Memorials may be made to either Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School, both in Mount Pulaski.
