[March 12, 2011]  GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Chicago White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo will miss up to four weeks to recover from a fractured right thumb.

InsuranceX-rays taken Friday confirmed the injury but he will not need surgery. He was hit by a pitch during a 7-6 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday, breaking the bone just below the nail.

Viciedo said he's still in pain and can't resume baseball activities for two weeks. The Cuban-born Viciedo is 10 for 23 this spring. He made the move from third base to right field in the offseason.
