| Kiel Turpin got off to a roaring start, scoring four straight
baskets to open the game and give Lincoln an 8-0 lead. Rahjan
Muhammed followed with an open-court steal and layup to put Lincoln
up 10-0 before Cecil finally had to burn a timeout. Cecil
eventually got some points on the board but not as many as they
would have liked. Lincoln held around a 10-point lead for the
majority of the half. Louie Schonauer hit a pair of 3-pointers to help extend Lincoln's
lead to 36-23 with less than three minutes to go in the half. Cecil didn't make progress to closing in significantly on the
lead, and Lincoln went into the break with the advantage. The
halftime score was Lincoln 45, Cecil 32. Lincoln's tough half-court defense made it difficult for Cecil to
get any consistent scoring source, especially from distance. Cecil
was 3 of 13 from behind the arc in the first half. Lincoln shot 3 of
6 from distance, with Louie Schonauer draining all three of them. Lincoln started the second half on a 7-2 run. Their 18-point lead
didn't last long but never got below 11 points for the majority of
the second half. Cecil started to make a little run with about nine minutes left,
but Lincoln retaliated with some great offensive finishes to keep
the lead at 15 points with eight minutes to play. Turnovers began to
haunt Cecil for the next couple of minutes, allowing Lincoln's lead
to grow. Eventually Cecil made a run to close Lincoln's lead to 66-58 with
just over four minutes to play. Despite Cecil's run, they had a
devastating loss when Darious Clark fouled out in the middle of
their run. From that point, DeMarius Sumrell made some athletic finishes
through contact to help extend Lincoln's lead as the clock wound
down. Lincoln had a 76-60 lead with two minutes left to play and
ended up holding on to that 16-point lead until the final buzzer. Lincoln College plays Erie Community College in the semifinals on
Friday at 8 p.m. Cecil will play Louisburg College in the
consolation bracket at 3 p.m. Friday. [to top of second
