People who have faithfully
attended previous Ag Scholarship Breakfasts more than likely
found that this year's event was just as good, if not better than all
the others.
Guzzardo's served up a buffet breakfast of egg casserole, potatoes,
sausage, biscuits and gravy, freshly sliced ham, fresh fruit, and a
variety of sweet pastries.
While everyone enjoyed their meal, they heard from John Hartman of
Farm Credit Services, who was this year's ag scholarship committee
chair and spoke about agricultural economics and where Logan County
stands in the statewide 'big picture."
The Hartsburg-Emden FFA ag issues debate gave a compelling rendition
of a typical school board meeting where school funding was the
principal issue. Their depiction brought to light the importance of
ag education funding, which is currently at risk in Illinois, as well
as ag educators' battle to reverse an opinion that ag education is
of little value to those who don't plan to farm.
