[May 09, 2011]  With warmer temperatures and clear skies, racers flocked to the Lincoln Speedway on Friday. Just one week ahead of the USMTS coming to the speedway, everyone was anxious to try out their setups and get in some laps on the track before the May 13 race.

There were 94 cars total, and an area-high 29 Modifieds were in attendance. The Modified feature started with the 14 Cashless car, driven by Brian Lynn, on the pole. The race almost went caution-free, but the yellow came out on lap 16 of 20. Lynn led the race by a straightaway until the caution. On the restart, Kelly Kovski, K10, slipped past the 14 on the last lap and captured the checkered flag. Top five finishers were Kovski, K10; Lynn, 14; Tommy Duncan, 32; Brent Mullins, 41M; and Butch Weisser, 25.

The bounty in the Wild Thing class increases. Damin Jones in the 4J started on the pole in the feature and captured the checkered flag once again. Jerry Benninger, 33B, grabbed the second-place spot, followed by Josh Osborne, 5, and Mike Webb, 56K.

Scott May, in the 44, picked up his second win in two weeks in the E-Mod class. May started in the fourth position and was able to get around Todd Bates, 49; Mark Anderson, 31; and Brian Dorsey, 16. Rounding out the top five were Bates, 49; Anderson, 31; Scott May Jr., 7; and Kevin Morrow, 28. This class is seeing more and more cars at Lincoln Speedway, with 15 E-Mods in the feature.

Bringing home the checkered flag in the Street Stocks was Chuck Barnes Jr., 1B. He started in the first position and led the pack to the checkered flag. The rest of the field finished in the following order: 2. Z.Waibel, 47W; 3. B. Simpson, 20; 4. R. Skelton, 10.

In the Pro-Late Model series, Evan Fink, 1F, found his way to victory lane, followed by Randy Meyers, 18, and Brad Denney, 11. There were 20 "crate" Late Models in the feature.
