Thelma Adams

[October 14, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Thelma Maynell Adams, 86, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Steven Blaum officiating.

Burial will follow in Keyes Cemetery.

Thelma retired from Ball-InCon in California. She was employed as a hostess at Bonanza in Lincoln for several years.

She was born on July 20, 1925, in Liberty, Ky. Her parents were Calvin Adams and Maude Lee Adams.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Slack of Lincoln; two sons, Wallace "Lynn" (and wife Sharon) Bryant of Middletown and Donnie (and Regina) Bryant of Lincoln; three brothers, Kenneth (and Faye) Adams of Middletown, Clifton (and Phyllis) Adams of Chenoa and Vernon (and Marian) Adams of Wentachi, Wash.; three sisters, Rebecca (and Jack) McConoughy, Blanche (and Dave) Koehler of Morton and Louise Mason of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Fred Bryant; one grandson, Christopher Slack; two sisters; and one brother.

Funeral Directors

Thelma enjoyed gardening and collected angels.

She never met a stranger and was always there for her family. Her smile could light up a room and sparkled even more than the jewelry that often adorned her every finger.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
