We are planning an awesome fall kickoff. Join us
on Saturday, Sept. 24, for an evening wiener roast and hayrack
ride in Memorial Park. We'll play some fun lawn games, enjoy the
company of others in our community, and who knows, maybe make a new
friend or two. Come out to the park around 4 p.m. and enjoy the
smells of a great wood fire. After the lawn games, we'll roast some
dogs and go for a hayrack ride. Of course, it's not a wiener roast
without s'mores! You bring a lawn chair and we'll provide the fun.
Cost will be $3 for youth 10 and under and $5 for age 11 and up.
We are excited to offer a Home Schooled P.E. program. Grades
K-5 will meet on Thursdays from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Junior high through
high schoolers will run from 2 to 2:50 p.m. Our kickoff day will be
Sept. 22. We will have six-week sessions, take a week off and then
resume another six-week session. Plans are to take a Christmas/New
Year's break and then end with the conventional school year. Each
six-week session will be $25 for the first child and $15 for each
additional sibling.
In their own words, meet our instructors.
"My name is Brenda Tate, and I am 22 years old. I graduated from
Lincoln Christian University with a bachelor's degree in psychology,
and while working on my undergrad, I had the opportunity of being
involved with activities for kids. I have held different jobs such
as camp staff, little kids' soccer coach, and I assisted Amy Brisbin
in the home school P.E. program which was held at Lincoln Christian
University. I also had the opportunity of doing an internship on the
east side of Indianapolis, and it involved working with inner-city
kids of low social-economic status. I enjoy sports and working with
kids and look forward to combining the two by leading the new home
school P.E. program. "

I also want to introduce you to Brenda's assistant.
"My name is Jason DeVillez and I am a junior at Lincoln Christian
University. I am currently pursuing a degree in business
administration after transferring in the spring of 2010 from Purdue
University. Throughout my childhood, sports and exercise were always
constants as I played every sport possible and even ran daily for
fun. My experience working with kids has mostly been limited to
working and teaching at various Vacation Bible School programs and
helping with the home school P.E. program run by Amy Brisbin last
year at LCU. I currently play soccer for LCU and look forward to
sharing my passion for sports through this new program."
We ask that you please call the park district at 732-8770 and ask
for Roy in order to preregister. Or you may email us at
info@lincolnparkdistrict.com. We want to be sure we have the
right amount of staff on our kickoff day!
