Among mothers of babies, 1 out of 3
struggle to provide diapers. Unfortunately, there are few resources
and little public support to address diaper need. Community Action
is reaching out to the community to help babies in this county
receive a basic essential. The diapers will be given to parents who
will earn the donated diapers by participating at Community Action
Partnership of Central Illinois.

Diapers are a critical need, and together we can make a difference
in our community.
Community Action Head Start classrooms in DeWitt, Fulton, Logan,
Mason, Menard and Piatt counties and Community Action outreach
offices will collect diapers April 23-27. Local grocery stores will
also participate as drop-off locations. Diapers of all sizes will be
accepted. Bring your donated diapers to a drop-off site to help the
babies in your community.
"Shortage of diapers can seriously impact the well-being of those in
need," said Beth Fleshman, Community Action Head Start director.
"Parents without sufficient resources often allow children to wear
diapers for too long during the day, or try to clean and reuse
disposable diapers, putting children at risk for staph and other
infections. As long as poverty exists, children and adults in our
communities will need diapers. No public assistance covers the cost
of diapers, including food stamps. By hosting the diaper drive, we
want to raise public awareness to this need facing local families."
