Wiesemeyer led Illinois State with a .471 batting average, a .824
slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage last week in four
games. He collected a team-high 10 RBIs, with three extra-base hits,
including a grand slam, a triple and a double. Wiesemeyer also
scored four runs and drew two walks.
The redshirt senior from Troy led ISU with a 2-for-4 effort,
including an RBI and run scored at Illinois, and he went 2 for 3
Friday versus Bradley. Wiesemeyer was the hero in Saturday's win
against the Braves, as he hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to
lift the Redbirds to a 12-3 win. In Sunday's season finale, he
tripled home three runs to help ISU gain the early lead.
Wiesemeyer is now batting 6 for 11 with the bases loaded this
season, and he leads the team with a .361 average, including a
team-best four triples. He is also riding a team-best nine-game
hitting streak and a 12-game on-base streak. Wiesemeyer went 1 for 5
in ISU's loss to No. 13 Purdue Tuesday.
Wiesemeyer and the Redbirds (22-15) next travel to Creighton (15-21)
for a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series beginning Friday
at 6:30 p.m. in Omaha, Neb.
