Mt. Pulaski- Peggy L. Payne Fuhrer, 72, of Mt. Pulaski, died at 6:00 A.M. on Sunday August 5, 2012 at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Peggy was born on November 6, 1939 to Robert and Hester Bryant Lumb in Carmi, IL. Peggy married Delmer Payne and he preceded her in death in 1975. She later married Dale Fuhrer. He preceded her in death in 1985.

She is survived by her daughters: Paula Bree of Mt. Pulaski; Donna (Robert) Smith of Mt. Pulaski; Patricia “Tootie” Riggs (Mike Robinson) of Lincoln; brothers: Gilbert Lumb of Carmi, IL; Dale (Jeanette) Lumb of Decatur, IL; 4 grandchildren: Patrick Bree; Bobbi (Daniel) Paige; Tiffany (Doug) Beggs; Jeremy (Jamie) Riggs; and 4 great grandchildren: Trenton; Kelsey; Nevaeh; Lain; and expecting another great grandchild in December.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother Darrell Lumb.

Peggy was a member of Mt. Pulaski Christian Church. She was owner/operator/retired from Vinegar Hill Tavern in Mt. Pulaski. She retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company. Her pride was "The Girls," as well as family and friends. She enjoyed many years with her customers at Vinegar Hill.

Services for Peggy will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski with Mark Weber conducting services. There will be a visitation from 4-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 8 at the Funeral Home. Burial at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
