[December 04, 2012]  LINCOLN -- Bertha Eleanor "Buffey" Schaub, 76, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at The Christian Village.

Bertha Eleanor "Buffey" Schaub, 76, of Lincoln, passed away December 2, 2012 at The Christian Village.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 also at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, beside her husband.

Buffey was born May 10, 1936 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of Gerald and Bertha (Hubbell) McCarthy. She married Paul Edward Schaub on October 31, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2009.

She was a member of Open Arms Christian Fellowship in Lincoln and was baptized on April 17, 2011. She retired from Ball Foster Glass Container after 30 years of service. Buffey enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and most recently Bingo.

Surviving are her children: Paul Edward Schaub Jr. of Lincoln, IL., Jeff (Marcia) Schaub of Lincoln, IL., Rick (Elaine) Schaub of Lincoln, IL., Sandee (Daryl) Haynes of Mechanicsburg, IL., and Steven (Judy) Schaub of Lincoln, IL. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sisters: Pauline (Pete) Arp of Cicero, IL., Dee (Phil) Vinci of Streamwood, IL., and Ailene Haymes of Northern, IL. and brothers: Tom (Priscilla) McCarthy of Texas and Donnie (Diane) McCarthy of Wheaton, IL; and brother in law Riley (Lillian) Schaub as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, one grandson, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 brothers in law, one nephew and one niece.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, The American Cancer Society, or to the Special Olympics and will be accepted at the funeral home.
