Mary Emma Eleanor Pfeiffer, 74, of Lincoln, died Friday, Feb. 10,
2012, at 8:48 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

LINCOLN-Mary Emma Eleanor Pfeiffer, 74, of Lincoln
died at 8:48 am on Friday, February 10, 2012 at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.
Ellie was born on February 24, 1937 in Shumway, IL
the daughter of William and Mary Knierim Vail. She
married Robert "Bob" Pfeiffer on October 9, 1960 in
Effingham, IL at the First Baptist Church. He
survives in Lincoln.
She is also survived by a daughter: Linda Pfeiffer
of Chatham and a son:
Dave (Sherry) Pfeiffer of Rochester, IL; two
brothers: Clifford Vail of Shumway, IL; Delmar Gene
Vail of Shumway, IL; four grandchildren: Drake
Pfeiffer, Amanda Stallings, Rachel Gregory and Cory
Gregory; two great grandchildren: Hunter Stallings
and Zachary Smith.

She had worked for CIPS in Effingham and
Springfield, IL. and retired from the Village of
Chatham. She was involved with youth groups and she
transported youth groups from Chatham to Auburn
before she was a charter member of the Chatham
Christian Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for 30
years and she was one of the founders of the Chatham
Library in an old utility building.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Christian Village
Congregate building in Lincoln with Ryan Edgecombe
officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to the family of Ellie.
