ATLANTA -- Dorothy M. Blankenship, 86,
of Atlanta, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 1:52 a.m. at St. John's
Hospital in Springfield.

Atlanta – Dorothy M. Blankenship, 86, of Atlanta,
passed away today, February 15, 2012, at 1:52 a.m.
at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blankenship will be held
on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St.
Mary's Church in Atlanta. Rev. Jeffery G. Laible
will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00
p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. prior
to the visitation. Additional visitation will be
held for one-half hour prior to the funeral at St.
Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her sister, Sister
Kathryn Edward, and many loving nieces and nephews
and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
and two brothers: Lawrence Knecht and Don Knecht.
Dorothy was born October 23, 1925, in Beason, the
daughter of Edward and Kathryn Schmidt Knecht. She
married Claude Blankenship on July 30, 1966, at St.
Mary's Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death
on October 4, 2002.

Dorothy graduated from Beason High School and was an avid cook and
baker, loved to garden and especially loved to travel. She retired from
the Logan County ASCS office. She was a member of Holy Family Church in
Lincoln and the Western Catholic Union.
Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad, St. Mary's Church or the
Dominican Sisters of Springfield.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of
Atlanta. |
